Dynamics of Information Retrieval When Interacting with AI Agents

Location

HKU

Date

28 October, 2024

This seminar delves into the evolving dynamics of information retrieval in the age of Artificial Intelligence (AI). It begins with a comprehensive overview of conventional information retrieval systems and explores how AI agents can transform them. As AI technologies become increasingly integrated, they introduce significant discrepancies within these systems, particularly regarding bias, accuracy, reliability, and transparency.

Participants will engage in interactive discussions and practical exercises to intuitively understand how AI agents exhibit human-like intelligence and the consequences this has for information retrieval. A key focus will be on practical strategies to address these discrepancies, primarily through prompt-tuning and prompt engineering.

Through hands-on activities, participants will discover how specific prompting techniques can enhance the effectiveness of AI agents in information retrieval tasks. This session is designed for researchers, technology enthusiasts, and professionals at various levels, aiming to deepen their understanding of AI's role and its implications for information retrieval.
