The Future of Learning: How AI and Metaverse Are Transforming Education

We will begin by using the metaverse as an application of pedagogy, showcasing the Metaverse Classroom project at HKUST (GZ) / HKUST, a pioneering initiative that establishes a physical-digital twin classroom across the Guangzhou and Hong Kong campuses. By immersing students in a metaverse classroom, we will discuss the possibilities of remote synchronous learning and collaboration, offering a glimpse into the future of education. Next, we will delve into the realm of digital teachers, a fascinating development at the forefront of AI integration in education. We will share ongoing research on the impact of digital teachers on student engagement and learning outcomes. By examining the journey of developing and evaluating AI lecturers, we will discuss the strategies employed and the projected evolution of AI in teaching and learning.
